The following will help us serve you better. Broken Window 101 This is a brief tutorial in determining what type of broken window you have. Knowing the answer to this will help the glass company representative you speak with better assess your situation and be able to give you a good idea of the price you'll need to pay and the time it will take to get your window fixed. What type of window do you have? First of all, is it an older wooden frame window with a single pane of glass? Older homes (fifty plus years) often have their original wood frame windows in them. These can be fixed on the spot. Does it open up and down (double hung)? If so, is it the top or the bottom? Does it slide from side to side? Or is it a fixed window which doesn't move at all (non-operating). Is it located in a door (door glass) or above a door (transom window). Most importantly, is it a a single pane or double pane (thermal) window. This one often confounds people, but it needn't. Simply look at the glass where it meets the sash (frame). There should be a silver spacer between the two panes of glass which will be somewhere between a half inch and three quarters of an inch. Knowing what type of window, and the giving us a rough size (and possibly texting us a cell phone picture of the broken glass often gives us the necessary information to make an educated guess as to the cost of getting your broken glass fixed. Note: Any "rough estimate" we give a customer is contingent on an actual physical inspection of the talked upon broken window.
